Between 1960 and 1980, Charanjit Singh, guitarist and synthesiser player, contributed to the soundtracks of numerous Bollywood films, notably those composed by Shankar-Jaikishan, S. D. Burman and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. He became famous with the album Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat (1982),  a fusion of electro music and classical Indian ragas. Although fame was not immediate, several years later this album was considered to be the first example of acid house. Singh thus dethroned a posteriori the album Acid Tracks by Phuture (1987) until then thought to be the first of its genre. Since its re-release in 2010, the musical value of the album is universally recognized. Some even compare it with the work of contemporary electro musicians such as Ceephax, Phuture 303 and Aphex Twin.
