EUROPALIA invites the general public to attempt translating an entire children’s book from Turkish to French and/or Dutch. We will present a previously unpublished book in Dutch and French, which we will translate via a brand new collaborative approach. We will focus on Feridun Oral's work, in partnership with YAPI KREDI YAYINLARI.

Knowledge of Turkish is not necessary to participate since the whole purpose will be for the public to see the work, interact with the volunteers present to help translate the work and in the end, it is all about learning and sharing more than the outcome itself.  We would work on a family friendly story fit for all audiences. Such a project would also be key to break barriers between different communities and allow people to learn about different processes to communicate, including translation.

The Spectacular Translation Machine is a creation of the SouthBank Centre London.
