EUROPALIA BULGARIA attracted 375,000 visitors who attended a total of 136 events: 5 exhibitions, 111 concerts, 4 literary symposia, 20 dance performances, 9 theatre performances, and 7 film screenings.
The festival's flagship event was the exhibition Thracian gold: Bulgarian Treasures, organised at BOZAR and visited by 80,000 people in just three months. Other large-scale exhibitions were Bulgarian Icons and Manuscripst, and Face à Face: Mysteries of Life.
The musical programme was primarily dedicated to Bulgarian folklore; the grandmothers of Bistritza and their granddaughters, the Eolina quartet, the Lyra Folk Band, and Bulgaria's children's choirs all made an appearance. Folklore and tradition were equally highlighted in the festival's dance programme, which included the Filip Koutev National Ensemble.
