[re-enacting memories] with TAN Vatey: Guilty pleasures in Indonesia Art workshop & exhibition making
[re-enacting memories] with TAN Vatey will be a “working exhibition” that threads life experiences of Vatey, from the cutting-edge exhibition “Mutual Unknown” at Galeri Nasional Indonesia in Jakarta, this Spring 2017 till the re-enactment of those memories during Europalia Indonesia Festival at Palais de la Dynastie in Brussels, this Autumn 2017.
If art describes the life and world around, then What is [your] Art? What is [your] Pleasure? What is [your] Guilt? What is [your] Indonesia? On 14-15 October, we will workshop our way towards an exhibition by re-making art works and re-activating the memory of “Mutual Unknown” into the present… and in the presence of others around!
People in Brussels, of all ages and cultures, be there now to create this “instant exhibition” together!
Mutual Unknown is an initiative by CuratorsLab, a network of young curators from South-East Asia, and happened between 10 May till 20 June 2017 with the following artists: Azam Aris, Fajar Abadi, Kuang Myat Thu, Leonard Yang, Noy Xayarham, Nuttapon Sawasdee, Renz Lee, Tan Vatey & Thuy Tien Nguyen and curators Rifandy Priatna, Henry Tan & Sally Texiana. Supported by Goethe Institute, Portikus and Städelschule, Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste Frankfurt am Main.
