M. Iksaka Banu
M. Iksaka Banu was born in Yogyakarta in 1964. He graduated from the Bandung Technology Institute, majored in graphic design and worked for several advertising agencies before he started focusing on freelancing and writing.
At a very young age, Iksaka Banu had already started writing and publishing short stories in the children’s section of various national newspapers and children’s magazines. His first comic book, Samba the Brave Rabbit, was published in a youth magazine when he was in his teens. In the year 2000, his short story was published in Matra Magazine. Since then, he has published in various newspapers and magazines, including in Kompas and in Tempo Daily.
Two of his short stories have been chosen for the Twenty Best Indonesian Short Stories by the Pena Kencana Prize in 2008 and 2009. His anthology of colonial stories, entitled Semua untuk Hindia (Pax Nederlandica) was awarded the Kusala Literary Award in 2014.
