The Ghent University Botanical Garden is home to a number of plants originating directly from the Indonesian jungle. Explore the wonderful world of exotic plants and learn numerous anecdotes about them, told by Indonesian students.

In the building’s entrance there is a small exhibition about Indonesian culture. Food is very important in this culture. In addition to traditional kitchen utensils, you will find miniature objects illustrating rural work. Indonesian hostesses will tell you about everyday life in their native villages, from the home and family to rituals about life and death, music and folk tales.

They will immerse you in an Indonesian holiday atmosphere and share some delicious culinary recipes. You can also discover the colours and aromas of their herbs and spices and local products such as cacao and coffee. Want to know more? You can even sign up for their workshops!
