Comprised of three slice-of-life interwoven episodes, Sequences observes a director and his film crew (all playing themselves in real life) as their attempts to shoot a film are superseded by the real-life drama around them. More than a Romanian take on Truffaut’s Day for Night, Sequences is a landmark work for Romanian cinema and the New Wave that followed, breaking the ideological veil of fiction to reflect on the condition of cinema and its auteur as filters for reality.
