A biting satire of bureaucracy that cut too close to reality for those in power.

Bumbling mid-level employee Ciubuc wants nothing more than to clock out each day, cash his cheque and toil away at his backyard’s tiny farming plot. Just as well, his surly boss would be content to hear constant praises of maximized productivity and not have his directorial comfort disturbed. Yet discontent amongst the workers bursts out into the open, and accused of being out of touch with his employees, the director takes on hapless Ciubuc to get to the bottom of things. A biting satire of bureaucracy that cut too close to reality for those in power, Our Director remains a classic of Romanian cinema.

Presented in English by Gabriela Filippi as film researcher.

Our Director is part of Genre: Reality Through Archetypes.
