Two of Romania’s legendary filmmakers make their feature-length debut in re-telling Ion Agarbiceanu’s short stories. “Fefeleaga” is a meditative poem about a widow and her sick daughter, while “At a wedding” is a bittersweet tale of love-fulfilled. Combining Iosif Demian’s pictorial cinematography with Dorin Liviu Zaharia’s mythical songwriting, The Stone Wedding is a remarkable work of cinematic folklore, one of the few Romanian films included in the MoMA collection.
The Stone Wedding is part of Soul of a Nation.
