Newly-settled innkeeper Ghiţă and his wife Ana look to begin a happy life on the pastoral plains, until the arrival of notorious bandit Lică Sămădăul foreshadows dire consequences. Intimidated to become an accomplice to Lică’s illegal schemes, Ghiţă compromises his own integrity and that of his family, and stands to lose everything in the process.
