Homage to Manuel de Falla

The acclaimed Spanish pianist Javier Perianes presents a recital around composer and pianist Manuel de Falla and two of his sources of inspiration, Frédéric Chopin and Isaac Albéniz. Chopin’s influence, more specifically his nocturnes and mazurkas, is clearly present in De Falla’s oeuvre. Albéniz’ Iberia suite also made a deep impression on De Falla. In this masterful composition, Albéniz weaves Spanish elements into a late-Romantic idiom. De Falla takes a similar approach in his Cuatro piezas españolas, a homage to Spanish culture with an Impressionist touch.
