Resistance. The Power of the Image

The title Resistance refers to the capacity of images to infiltrate, denounce and collectivize ideas in the struggle for democratic values. The exhibition examines two crucial moments in this struggle: the resistance to Franco’s dictatorship in the 1970s, and the last twenty or so years of Spanish history, with updated models of public demonstration, like that of the Indignados. The works on display propose a review of the meanings of democracy, of the need for it and the obstructions to it, along with a constructive critique for the formation of a collective identity as a society.
