Focusing his artist’s eyes on 17th-century Antwerp, Spanish artist Santiago Ydáñez will engage in a fascinating dialogue with the Old Masters. The historic homes of Nicolaas Rockox and Frans Snijders will serve as inspiration and backdrop for an encounter between past and present. Ydáñez’s works, often imbued with emotion and a touch of irony, offer a contemporary reflection on the rich visual language of the Baroque. The exhibition intentionally disrupts the intimacy of the museum rooms with paintings and sculptures of striking scale, while preserving the tender, emotive power of art.
