The Euskal Barrok Ensemble combines historical research with fresh, innovative interpretations. The group is known for its intimate, innovative interpretations of ancient, classical and popular music. The concert tells the story of Subh, a Christian woman from Navarre, who winds up as a slave in the court of the Caliph of Córdoba, eventually becoming regent of the Caliphate of Córdoba. Behind this heroic story, however, lie historical facts about the criminal and humiliating treatment of a real woman who, like many others, never received the recognition she deserved.
