With a repertoire based mainly on the vocal music of the Spanish Golden Age, the Cantoría vocal ensemble is known for its fresh, natural sound. As well as researching historical interpretation techniques, Cantoría explores the theatrical and communicative character of the vocal music of the Renaissance and examines the Iberian singing technique of that period. ¡A la fiesta, zagales! is a programme full of energy and colour, in which the jácaras and Christmas carols of Spain’s Baroque period feast our ears with amusing rhythms, popular songs, famous characters and political allusions and jokes.
