Marcos Morau & Ballet Nacional de España – Afanador

  • Concertgebouw Brugge, Bruges

For Afanador, Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau draws inspiration from the world of flamenco. Together with thirty dancers, he creates a stunning fusion between the universe of photographer Ruvén Afanador and contemporary dance. This piece emerges from the tension between the magnetic pull of Afanador’s photographs of stars and Morau’s own fascination with mystery. Ruvén Afanador pushes us to reflect on the fundamental kinship between photographic and choreographic composition: capturing life – that which by definition resists being captured. Afanador views flamenco through a lens shaped by dreams, desire and memory.
