The Basiani Ensemble, one of the most internationally renowned choirs of Georgia, was formed in Tbilisi in 2000. The choir has been active in researching and reviving traditional songs and sacred hymns from both archival recordings and transcriptions, and also from its own fieldwork with singers throughout Georgia.

Basiani will also perform as part of Triple Bill: Basiani Ensemble, Gori Women’s Choir & Georgian State Chamber Choir at Concertgebouw Brugge, the Church of St. James on Coudenberg and Amare (NL), with Chamgeliani Sisters at Arsonic – Mars - Mons arts de la scène and as part of Motherland with Timo Tembuyser at DE SINGEL and KVS.
